McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurants, the nation’s premier family of seafood restaurants, and Mirassou Winery®, America’s oldest winemaking family, will partner in a private luncheon and wine pairing for attendees of Eat, Write, Retreat on Saturday, May 22, 2011 at the McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurant on K Street in Washington, DC. During this exclusive event, food bloggers will learn tricks of the restaurant trade from Executive Chef Fernando Giacomini and the McCormick & Schmick’s culinary team while enjoying a selection of freshly prepared, locally-sourced signature McCormick & Schmick’s dishes paired with a variety of Mirassou’s premium, fruit-forward California wines.

The executive chef at each McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurant incorporates fresh, locally available seafood and in-season produce and ingredients to create custom dishes highlighting the flavors of the region. Each McCormick & Schmick’s menu is printed twice daily, featuring the signature “Fresh List” highlighting an impressive number of fresh seafood varieties, in addition to aged steaks, poultry, entrée salads and pasta.

During lunch, Eat, Write, Retreat attendees will gain insight into working with seafood from the best in the business. From tips on selecting quality fish to how to prepare different types of seafood at home, bloggers will hear from Chef Giacomini who oversees the creation of new menu items at McCormick & Schmick’s on a daily basis, based on availability and seasonality.

The Mirassou family has been growing grapes and crafting wines in the sun-drenched hills of California since 1854. For this unique Eat, Write, Retreat luncheon, Mirassou will pair each of the dishes served with a signature varietal, which are known for being bright and expressive, with full-fruit highlights.
