Foodgawker: Composition – too tight
Tastespotting accepted; Foodgawker: Dull/unsharp when reduced in size
I don’t get the reason Foodgawker rejected this. How is it dull/unsharp when reduced? If it isn’t dull/unsharp now?
I think it looks fine..
The dull/sharpness issue can be solved by resizing your picture before you send it in (both Tastespotting AND Foodgawker use images that are 250×250). The problem is with artifacting. Depending on the software they use to automatically resize the image, it can look really funky, though it’s kind of surprising since most websites are pretty good at resizing these days (for example, Flickr doesn’t have this problem, and I don’t think Tastespotting does either, which is why they never use this explanation for rejection).
Candy – Thanks!
Aleta – Great advice, I will give it a try.
